After Care

Laser hair removal

Immediately after treatment, there may be redness and raised follicles at the treatment site, this can last up to 24 to 48 hours. It is normal for the treated area to feel like sunburn during this time. To ease discomfort, apply cold packs or Aloe Vera gel.

Up to 14 days post-treatment, shedding of the hair may occur and this can appear as new hair growth. This is not new growth, but dead hair pushing its way out of the follicle. You can help the hair exfoliate by washing or wiping with a washcloth. Repeat treatments will be recommended approximately every 4-8 weeks depending on the treatment site. Do not wax, pluck or epilate in between. Shave only pre-treatment.

Thread vein, pigmentation /Sun Damage, Laser facial aftercare.

Following thread vein removal or pigmentation treatments, mild to moderate scabbing may cover the treated area. This is a perfectly normal part of the healing process, and will naturally shed within one to two weeks. To aid this, Aloe Vera can be applied or an antibiotic ointment if necessary.

It is imperative to not tamper with or pick these healing scabs as this can lead to permanent scarring or infection.

The remaining advice should be adhered to following all laser treatments.

If any crusting or blistering occurs, keep the area as cool and dry as possible, an antibiotic ointment may be applied. Once the heat in the skin subsides, apply an emollient cream such as E45 or Sudocrem to rehydrate.

Paracetamol, ibuprofen or antihistamines can be taken post-treatment to aid skin recovery.

Do not apply makeup for 24 hours. Do not apply makeup to any irritated skin until the treatment area has settled.

Avoid sun exposure to reduce the chance of dark or light pigmentation for 4 weeks post-treatment. Use sunscreen SPF 30 or higher at all times throughout the treatment and thereafter.

Avoid sun exposure, saunas, sun beds or any heat treatment for 4 weeks before or after laser treatment.

You may shower after the laser treatments, and use soap, deodorant, etc. The treated area may be washed gently with a mild soap. The skin should be patted dry and NOT rubbed. You may apply deodorant after 24 hours.

Avoid swimming or strenuous exercise for between 3 – 5 days following treatment.
